Fans will be treated to a full afternoon of rugby Saturday as the NMHU Vatos (6-4) conclude their home schedule at Perkins Stadium.

The rugby begins at 2:30 with three youth games with six teams from Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Española. Beginning at 4:30 the Vatos play round robin games with Clovis/Cannon AFB and national finalist Albuquerque. A social dinner will conclude the activities. Everyone is invited.

“Albuquerque needs to win to secure their divisional championship and to qualify for the regional and national playoffs in Division 2,” noted Vatos coach Mando Herrera. “They will be bringing their best efforts. Although the Vatos have already qualified for the playoffs in Division 3, they will need a solid performance to provide a platform for the future tough games against other union champions.”

The Vatos travel to New Mexico Tech April 24 to play NMT, NMSU, and UNM for the NM College Challenge. The following weekend, they travel to the Western Rugby Union Championships for three games in Fort Worth. The winner qualifies for the National Sweet 16 in Austin May 22-23.
