The Rain Stixx ladies have been keeping their chocolates flowing in preparation for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday.
Gail Rains, April Rains-Hoogerhuies, Betty Joe Gallegos, and Crystall Rains have been busy creating the edible creations for special orders for the day of love.
They make various sweet confections including their namesake Rain Stixx –— chocolate dipped pretzels and popular chocolate dipped strawberries.
The local, home-based company has been busy dipping specialty pretzels and strawberries for numerous custom orders for Valentine’s, including a custom rainbow dipped strawberry tray.
The women will no doubt be working into the night to churn out their specialties in time for the big day. That’s no easy task given that all of the women have full-time jobs.
They have numerous special orders including a custom rainbow dipped strawberry tray.
They are also creating pretzel bouquets for their customers.
“We offer a variety of flavors,” said April Rains-Hoogerhuies while preparing a special ordered pretzel and an Oreo truffle tray.
Gail Rains said the business is working to fill 30 to 50 orders for Valentine’s Day. The business is licensed and state-approved, Gail Rains said.
For Super Bowl Sunday, the ladies dipped 1,300 pretzels within two days for all the football fans cheering on the Baltimore Ravens or San Francisco 49ers.
Valentine’s Day may be this business’s busiest time of year, but the business operates year round. That means the “Rain Stixx elves” as they prefer to call themselves, work throughout the year.
They create custom orders for baby showers, birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, dances, proms and any other special event.
They also make cookies, pies, cake pops and other baked items such a pastelitos. They dip many of their items in chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch, mint, orange, cherry, pineapple, lime, sugar- free chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate and any other flavor that they can come up with.
“We try different flavors and like to experiment with various techniques,” Crystal Rains said.
They will also sprinkle their edible delights with nuts, sprinkles, coconut, candy or leave them just dipped in the flavors. They can also create chocolate- and vanilla- dipped fruit trays.
The locally owned company has been in operation for roughly two years and is licensed through the state Environment Department and the city of Las Vegas. Rains-Hoogerhuies said the group started off by pitching in $40 each to start the business.
“Rain Stixx stands out because of our signature dipped pretzels,” Gail Rains said. “We just don’t do chocolate and vanilla; we do cherry, raspberry, mint, cinnamon roll and other flavors.”
