COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Officials from the University of Nebraska at Kearney announced today that they have accepted an offer to join the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

“Nebraska-Kearney has been a very good member of the RMAC for a number of years,” said Smith. “While we hate to see them go, we are moving forward as a conference and are looking at a number of membership scenarios.”

The Lopers last year of competition in the RMAC will be next season, 2011-12.  Their first season of competition in the MIAA will begin in 2012-13.

Nebraska-Kearney joined the RMAC in 1994 and won 13 RMAC All-Sports Competition Cups and over 50 league championships in the past 17 years.

The RMAC, based in Colorado Springs,  is a 14-member conference in NCAA Division II with institutions in Colorado, Nebraska, and New Mexico.  The league sponsors 21 sports and holds 20 conference championships.
