The Houston Astros announced Wednesday that Villanueva, N.M., native Nathan Lucero has been promoted to the position of head trainer, according to the team’s general manager Ed Wade.
The 39 year-old has more than paid his dues, having been in the club’s organization for 16 years, and he most recently has served as the team’s strength and conditioning coordinator.
The Villanueva native first got his itch in sports medicine when an injury he received in high school was treated by former Highlands head trainer Rob Evers.
