The amounts are shocking. More than $9,600 of overtime for one Las Vegas City Schools employee. Another $7,300 in overtime for another district employee.
Seven city schools employees have received a total of $30,858 in overtime between July 1 and Jan. 29. The district’s total overtime spending for the current fiscal year was just over $41,000.
So what’s wrong with that? you may be asking. A lot.
For one, city schools budgeted just $22,500 for overtime this fiscal year, so the district has already spent about twice as much as it had planned.
