THUMBS DOWN! RIDICULOUS GOVERNING. Last year there was the debt ceiling, approved in the 11th hour in a way to create a “fiscal cliff” for Jan. 1, 2013. Then came the fiscal cliff itself, and Congress dodged it in the 13th hour — actually taking the cushion of a federal holiday (New Year’s Day) to approve an alternative to wrecking the economy. And now we’ll have to face another round of gridlock in the weeks ahead as the nation approaches yet another debt ceiling.
