Basketball is coming to Luna Community College in the form of intramurals.

The Luna Wellness Center staff will be starting a basketball intramural program for both LCC students and community members.

The goal is to hold three-on-three competition three days out of the week. There will be maximum of five players per team.

There will be a charge of $50 per team. Money collected will be placed in the Wellness Center account and used for prizes, awards and equipment. A running track of extracurricular activity money at the Wellness Center will be kept.

The winning and second-place teams will be awarded T-shirts.

Competition will begin on Monday, March 18, and runs through Thursday, May 9. It will culminate with a tournament.

The LCC basketball intramural program is open to both female and male participants 16 and older.

“I want to involve the wellness center in more student activities and would like to see more community members  utilize our facilities with fun and competition through basketball,” said LCC Wellness Center Director Dawnette Garcia-Najar.
