Forecasting with any degree of accuracy the District 2-3A races in either boys’ or girls’ basketball has proven to be a fool’s errand this season.
Even within the course of a game, things have had a way of going topsy-turvy.
Robertson’s girls may have had some positive momentum going into their visit to Taos on Monday night, coming off an important win over crosstown foe West Las Vegas.
And they held the lead for significant stretches of Monday’s contest. But then the host Lady Tigers pulled the rug out from under the Lady Cardinals.
Robertson led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter. Taos tied it up 27-27 in time for intermission, and it was a 37-35 Taos edge at the end of the third.
But the fourth period belonged to Taos, which surged for a 50-37 win.
After a non-district tilt Tuesday vs. Socorro, RHS and head coach Rick Armijo get ready to host Raton on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Jose Medina and his West Las Vegas Lady Dons visit Raton on Thursday before hosting Taos on Saturday.
