Members of the Storrie Project Water Users Association are miffed over the decision of the State Engineer’s Office late last week to divert water to the acequias rather than allow all of it to go into Storrie Lake for storage.
Rob Larrañaga, vice president of the group, said that at this point in the season sending water to the acequias is effectively wasting it because there have already been two nights of frost. He said allowing all of it to go to Storrie Lake would be more beneficial because it would be stored for the next irrigation season.
