State tourneys include three local referees

Running down the fabled ramp of The Pit is a thrill not limited to high school basketball players and coaches getting deep enough into the state tournaments to earn that privilege.
It’s also quite a joy for the referees.

Getting selected to officiate the state tournament games is considered an honor reserved for some of the better qualified referees representing each of the regions around New Mexico each year.
