The state tournament treks for two Las Vegas youth baseball teams came to an end on Monday evening.

In Albuquerque, La Plaza’s juniors lost 15-4 to Albuquerque Zia in an elimination game despite a home run by Jose Juan Montaño. The team opened with a 4-1 setback against a strong Paradise Hills club but stayed alive by nipping Gallup 10-8, aided by Salvador Lopez’s home run. La Plaza finished in the top six.

In Roswell, Las Vegas Little League 9-10 All-Stars lost 11-7 to Shorthorn. LVLL started strong, routing Albuquerque South Valley 19-1 on Friday but lost the next game in a narrow 9-6 decision. That forced a must-win game on Monday.
