For Robertson’s Lady Cardinals, the turning point Wednesday night against visiting Taos came early.

The Tigers took advantage of a slow start by RHS and darted out to a 14-3 first-quarter lead. The Lady Cards never quite recovered, although they outscored their guests every quarter thereafter. Final score: Taos 50, Robertson 48.

“We gave up a lot of easy shots in that first quarter,” said RHS coach Aunna Bradley.

“Then we got into foul trouble. Daniella (Montoya) had to sit halfway through the third.”

Montoya still managed to lead the team with 16 points. Kassandra Tapia had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Miranda Garcia and Jolene Martinez added nine points each.

Taos’ Brittany Gonzales scored a game-high 22.

Robertson (2-2) hosts Mora this coming Wednesday evening.
