Skaters voice concerns

Shane “Josh” Coca says he and other skateboarders are being harassed at the skate park just outside the city’s recreation center. And he said authorities have kicked them out of other places.

“We want a place to stay and be welcome,” said the 16-year-old Coca, who attended a meeting with Mayor Henry Sanchez and other officials Monday.

His friend, Isaiah Ortiz, 16, agreed.

“Some people like football. Some people like basketball. Our passion is skateboarding,” he said.
