SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College President Sheila Ortego says she will retire at the end of August 2012.
Ortego said Monday she faces increasing responsibilities in caring for her elderly mother and will step down as college president because “this is a time I must put my family first.”
She has served as president since 2006. She has held numerous faculty and administrative posts at the school since it was founded in 1983.
