Seventh-grade MMS boys finish 20-3

Memorial Middle School’s seventh-grade boys’ basketball team recently wrapped up a dominant season with a 60-16 victory over West Las Vegas Feb. 27 at the MMS gym.

Later, WLVMS defeated MMS in the season-ending eighth-grade boys’ game, 43-37.

For the seventh-graders from MMS, it was another day at the office in what has been a strong winter.

Led by head coach Benny Ortiz and assistant Jeff Houdek, the Cardinals posted a 20-3 overall record that includes several “B” team games and forfeits.

The seventh-grade lineup includes Daniel “D.J.” Jaramillo, Samuel Armijo, Ishmael Martinez, Robert Silva, Justin L’esperance, Leon Lujan, Charlie Hillis, Diego Gonzales, Arjay Ortiz, Richard Armijo, Deleon Rodriguez, Marcus Garcia, Joaquin Barela, Juan Marcos Dominguez.

Memorial’s eighth-grade team was led by head coach Kenneth Jenkins. No final record was available.
