Senate panel OKs $5.9 billion budget

SANTA FE  — A proposed $5.9 billion budget is heading to the Senate with a more than 4 percent increase in spending next year and money for pay raises for educators and state workers.

The Finance Committee unanimously endorsed the budget on Friday, sending the measure to the 42-member Senate for consideration.
