School board elections Tuesday

Voters will go to the polls around the area Tuesday to vote in school board elections.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For West Las Vegas, Michael Adams, David G. Romero and John Trujillo are vying for Position 4, while incumbent Christine Ludi is fending off three opponents for Position 5, Manuel Lucero, Jose Salazar and Yvette Arellanes.

Longtime West board member Ralph Garcia isn’t running for another term.

In the East district, incumbent Philip Leger is facing two opponents, Matt Martinez and Gabriel Lucero for Position 1. For Position 2, incumbent Elaine Luna is challenged by Pamela Daves. The name of a third candidate, Teresa Gray, appears on the ballot, but she  said she is not actively running for the post, urging people to vote for other candidates.

In Mora, incumbent Ronald Duran is facing Arthur Romero for one position, while incumbent Robert Romero has two challengers, Nestor Cruz Casados and Joseph Griego.

In Pecos, James Varela, the incumbent, is facing Victor Ortiz Jr. Eddie Duran is running unopposed.

There is no opposition in either of Wagon Mound’s school board races.
