St. Michael’s edged Robertson 11-9 in a shootout of a third-place game Saturday in the Lady Horsemen’s own tournament in Santa Fe.

The Lady Cardinals finished the weekend 1-2 and are now 5-2 overall this season under Adrian Jaramillo.

Robertson had reached the semifinals but lost 9-7 to Raton on Friday.

The Lady Cards took their tourney opener 12-2 over Española Valley for their fifth straight victory to start the campaign.

Robertson baseball lost to district foe Raton 9-1 to close out its trip to the St. Michael’s tournament on Saturday in Santa Fe.

The Cardinals fell to a strong Cobre outfit 13-0 on Thursday. It was a close 3-0 until the seventh.

On Friday, the Redbirds nipped Santa Fe Indian 12-10.

Robertson and Kenneth Sandoval are 6-3 to start the season.

The Cardinals recently swept Class 4A Capital by scores of 18-5 and 19-3 in Santa Fe.

West Las Vegas baseball won its last two games of the Socorro Invitational over the weekend to secure fifth place.
In Thursday’s opener, Grants doubled up the Dons 8-4.

West bounced back with a 14-0 shutout of Laguna Acoma on Friday and then closed the run with a 7-2 verdict against Lordsburg.

“Bats and (defense) were on fire (against Laguna),” reported coach Ryan Gabaldon. Jeremy Fernandez pitched a one-hitter.

On Saturday, Jose Juan Montaño smashed a three-run homer to help Andy Gabaldon pick up the pitching win.
