Old habits die hard. Even the good ones.

Rosie Lanphere, who starred on the volleyball court for Robertson High, is competing as part of the U.S. club volleyball circuit and is days away from a major tournament.

“I was invited to join an adult volleyball club in Albuquerque named Hogan’s Heroes,” Lanphere told the Optic. “We are sponsored to go to the national tournament.”

The tourney is the  U.S. Open National Volleyball Championships Club Tournament, June 2-5 in Phoenix.

“We play in the women’s BB-level and will be trying for a gold medal. I am also playing in the reverse co-ed tournament May 29-30. Our club consists of men and women from (or living in) New Mexico only and we have been practicing together for five months or so.”

Lanphere, 26, is a 2001 RHS graduate who went on to play at New Mexico Military and Delaware State. She recently was assistant coach to Raynee Gerhart at Robertson and is now in graduate school at UNM.
