By Dave Kavanaugh

Joseph Dominguez , Wally Diaz , Daniel Martinez and Dmitri Almanzar have won individual state championships for the Robertson wrestling program Saturday (Feb. 21) in Rio Rancho.... RHS held an 11-point team poitns lead over Bloomfield and St. Mike's going into the championship round ... West Las Vegas' John Armijo ended his prep wrestling career with a state championship at 171, edging Jake Winter of St. Mike's 4-2 in the final...

It's the first state title for Dominguez (135) and Almanzar (160). Diaz, a senior, caps his storybook prep career with a fourth state title just a week after moving up to 145 from 140. Martinez, a 152-pound sophomore, already has three titles to his credit, staying alive in his quest to win five. That exclusive club has just two other members, including Rio Rancho 140-pounder Max Ortega, who won his fifth title Saturday in Class 5A.

Armijo had come close to a championship his last two seasons but ran into Robertson star Jake Martinez and came up short both times.

Robertson's Charlie Armijo was third at 103; Mack Salman fourth at 112; David Rael third at 119; MIguel Garcia second at 130; Nathan Abreu third at 140; Estevan Vigil third at 171; and Aaron Archuleta fourth at heavyweight. West's Ross Valdez was fourth at 125; Manuel Silva third at 189... Pecos' Jon Torrez was third at 135.
