Back-to-back blowout victories were on the menu as the Robertson boys’ soccer team got some long-awaited home cooking this past week.

On Monday afternoon, the Cardinals enjoyed a scoring smorgasbord in a 10-0 win over Peñasco.

Keen Martinez and Henry Robertson each scored a three-goal hat trick, and Brandon Trujillo added two goals and two assists for Robertson.

The Cardinals and head coach Clarence Montoya hope to win out their remaining games and clinch another district championship.

But as Montoya pointed out after Saturday’s 10-0 rout of Questa — for a season sweep of the Wildcats — “there’s plenty of soccer to be played yet.”

Martinez scored the first two goals Monday, and Trujillo and Robertson booted one apiece in a 4-0 first half for the Cardinals.

Then Trujillo and Jalen Martinez opened the second half with a couple of goals. Robertson added another. Next it was Justin Bustos’ turn. Robertson got his third, and after a respite on the bench, Keen Martinez returned to put the match away.

It was the second straight hat trick for Henry Robertson. In addition to his three goals, Keen Martinez had one assist.

Both RHS boys’ and girls’ teams host Portales Thursday.
