No one disagrees that clean water and a healthy Rio Grande are fundamentally important. Without a clean Rio, communities supported by farming would suffer, and New Mexicans’ drinking water suffers.
That’s why it’s disappointing that the U.S. House of Representatives (recently) voted to block the restoration of Clean Water Act safeguards that help keep our waterways like the Rio Grande clean by including a dirty water provision in a water-related spending bill that makes sure critical safeguards are excluded.
