A booming goal by junior Henry Robertson boosted his namesake Cardinals to a 1-0 victory Monday afternoon against always formidable Santa Fe Prep.
Robertson scored the game’s lone goal in the 59th minute, dribbling the ball swiftly into open space and then taking it all the way through the box before zipping it past the Blue Griffins’ goalkeeper.
That broke a two-and-a-half game scoreless streak for RHS (3-2).
Both sides had numerous close calls, however. Henry Robertson had at least two shots that became near-misses, including one from point-blank range that was deflected out of bounds. Freshman Jalen Martinez lofted a pretty shot over the keeper that just caught the crossbar and bounced backward over the goal.
Taos is in town today for a twinbill vs. RHS boys and girls.
