Three months after fierce winds ripped off a portion of the roof at the city’s Abe Montoya Recreation Center the damage has yet to be repaired, which means the popular swimming pool remains closed to the public.
The months-long closure of the pool has created a domino effect, resulting in low traffic at the rec center on Sundays. That, in turn, prompted the recreation center to close its doors on Sundays, frustrating many of the people who visit the center on weekends for workouts.
There’s good news and bad news for patrons of the recreation center.
