Reader favors merger of LCC, HU

-A A +A

I was happy to read that Sen. (John Arthur) Smith is recommending the merger of Luna Community College and Highlands University.

The past events at LCC have been nothing but controversial. The CEO has done nothing but supply pork to the school only to maintain his position. Yes he is leaving but he has done little to nothing to move the college forward.

Mr. (Abelino) Montoya has only added to the problems by refusing to work with his fellow elected trustees. This is nothing more than politics as usual in the area.

LCC was initially established as a vocational school. Once it began to compete against HU for the students nothing good could move forward. The young people of the area deserve better. Merging with HU will only enhance their educational experience and provide the best training possible.
