West Las Vegas girls’ golf standout Joedy Quintana has gotten back to work on the links this fall, and she’s already one step closer to making a return trip to the state tournament.
Quintana, a junior, shot a 92 on Monday at the Los Alamos golf course, qualifying her first leg necessary to make the cut for state. Golfers are required to post three qualifying scores — three legs — to be eligible for state as individuals.
Joedy and her older sister Jayme — now a freshman at New Mexico Highlands — both qualified for state last season to represent West Las Vegas.
Joedy was fourth in the District 2-3A tournament and helped secure a district team title for the Lady Dons. She then went on to finish ninth with a two-day gross of 173 in the Class 1A-3A state tourney at the New Mexico Tech course in Socorro.
