• Jesus “Jesse” Griego building dedication, 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the West Las Vegas Valley gymnasium in Ribera, N.M. A West Las Vegas High School graduate, Griego died in Vietnam and was a native of the Valley area.

• The Las Vegas Municipal Court will be closed from Sept.13 to Sept. 16 so employees may attend a Justice Systems Conference out of town. If you have any questions you may contact any of our court staff at 425-9403.

• Santa Fe National Forest Fuelwood permits are available starting Sept. 12. They may be obtained from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Las Vegas office located at 1926 7th St. or on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Pecos Office located at 32 S. • Search and Rescue meeting at 6 p.m. on  Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the Professional Health Care Annex, 1931 Seventh, across from the Forest Service Office.

• The descendants of Miguel Romero y Baca and Josepha Delgado de Romero and their five sons and five daughters are planning a Family Reunion to celebrate the 100th anniversary of New Mexican Statehood, and the legacy and role of The Romero Family in the establishment of the 47th State in 1912. The reunion will take place June 14 to June 17, 2012 in Las Vegas at venues throughout the city.  Reunion Headquarters will be the Plaza Hotel founded by Benigno Romero in 1882.
