• A Time to Bead in New Mexico, Cancer Assistance and Support Fundraiser, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Citizens’ Committee for Historic Preservation at 116 Bridge Street. A local group of volunteers established a fund at the Cancer Foundation dedicated exclusively to the needs of cancer patients in the Las Vegas area, the “Celeste Martin Memorial Fund.” Periodic fund-raising events, primarily titled “A Time to Bead in New Mexico,” are held in Las Vegas to raise money for the fund and the need continues to grow. For example, in 2011, reimbursement was provided to local residents for 40,725 miles while so far in 2012, reimbursement for 52,229 miles has gone to patients traveling from San Miguel County.
• Huge Craft Fair hosted by the Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the church located at 201 Mountain View Drive.
