The San Miguel County DWI Planning Council will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at B3 on Bridge Street. This meeting is open to the public.

The AAUW Las Vegas Annual Used Book Sale will be held this year at Sala de Madrid on the Highlands campus. The sale starts at 10 a.m. all three days and goes until 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon on Saturday. A large selection of used books — best sellers, fiction, mysteries, fantasy, inspirational works, history and politics, psychology and education, self-help, health and medical, literature, children’s books, collectibles — for every interest, along with CDs and DVDs will be available. Hardcover books are $2 and paperbacks $1, with bargain books at 10 for $1 as well as free books (many for children), magazines, and educational materials. Donated books are welcome between 1 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 at Sala de Madrid. Or call Phyllis Ludi at 425-1066, to arrange a time to pick up donated books. The sale of these books provides the funds for the Las Vegas branch AAUW scholarship awards for women who are outstanding non-traditional students at Highlands.

March 31 and April 6
The Las Vegas Tree Board will sponsor informal small tree pruning workshops, free of charge. They will be pruning trees from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. On March 31 they will be holding the workshop along the north side of Douglas Avenue from Eighth Street to Sixth Street, and on April 6 at Lincoln Park. Questions are welcome as they prune the city’s trees while demonstrating proper pruning practices.
