• Prairie walk and Interpretive talk, 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6 at the Las Vegas National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, located on Highway 281, East of Las Vegas. Meet at the Gallinas Trail Parking Lot, for an easy early evening walk through the shortgrass prairie to the canyon edge. Seating is limited to 40. Seats will be available on a first-come, first served basis. Return to the visitor center for sandwiches and veggies plus a talk, “Drought and Ecology of Southwestern Shortgrass Prairies,” with Mollie Walton, Ph.D., a restoration ecologist. • Morphy Lake Rehabilitation planning meeting, 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6 at the LeDoux Fire Department. A meeting will take place every third Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. after this initial meeting. For more information, contact Joe Lucero at 575-770-1009.

• Family Ride for Bilingual Pride to support the Los Niños Elementary PTA, 9 a.m. start and hitting the road at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 from Los Niños at 474 Legion Drive with pit stops at the National Wildlife Refuge, Montezuma Pond, Salman Ranch and returning back to the school. • Story time is over, but the Summer Reading Program is just around the corner. Registration is now open at Carnegie Public Library. Deadline to register is Friday, June 13. Come in and register. The program starts on Wednesday, June 18 and ends on Wednesday, July 16. Summer Reading Program participants meet every Wednesday at 10 a.m. to noon More information is available at Carnegie Library.
• Unveiling of the local Vietnam Veteran Memorial Flagstone honoring the 32 mend from northeastern New Mexico who lost their lives in Vietnam, 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 at the Las Vegas Veterans Park on Mills Avenue. • The Robertson High School Class of 1964 50th Class Reunion will be Aug. 1 to Aug. 3 in Las Vegas. Activities will include a meet-and-greet on Friday, banquet on Saturday, and brunch on Sunday, with optional activities centered on Las Vegas Heritage Week.
