• Country music star Matt Mason in concert, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Ilfeld Auditorium, 900 University Ave., on the NMHU campus. Tickets for the Matt Mason concert are $20 for reserved seats, $15 for general admission, and $10 for children and students with valid IDs. • The 19th Annual Fiesta de la Hispanidad is looking for participants who wish to share their singing, dancing and musical talents at the show scheduled for Saturday, March 23. • Free tax return preparation is available for low- and middle-income persons and seniors. The service is being offered by AARP Tax-Aide at Highlands University Student Center, 903 Baca St. You do not have to be a senior, or a member of AARP, to receive the help. • The “Ban Fracking” Art Show and Poster Contest is showing until Feb. 26 at Traveler’s Café. Come view artwork from local children and adults on banning fracking in San Miguel County. Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

• Catholic Daughters of Immaculate Conception Parish (Court Empress of the Americas #1796) have joined Catholic Daughter Courts throughout the country in sponsoring the 2013 National Education Contest. The contest is open to Catholic and non-Catholic students in grades 4 through 12 as well as adult Catholic Daughters. Monetary awards and certificates will be given for first-, second- and third-place winning entries in each division and category. First place local winning entries will be forwarded to state and the first place state winners will advance to National competition. Local deadline is Feb. 15.
