Probate judge resigns post

Probate Judge Joe Horace Lucero has submitted his resignation to San Miguel County effective Thursday, and the Commission has already launched a search for his replacement.

Lucero submitted his letter of resignation to County Manager Les Montoya, and Montoya informed the County Commission last week.

“It’s time for me to move on,” Lucero said, adding that he has a second home in Albuquerque and is planning to buy more property there.

“I’m 70 years old,” he said. “I had a very good run. I helped a lot of people.”
