A Las Vegas man who told a police officer that he would “blow your head off” is charged with a number of offenses.
Dennis Martin Chavez, 46, 741 Dora Celeste, was put in jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash-only bond.
According to a criminal complaint, state police were called to Chavez’s Dora Celeste house after his stepdaughter reported a domestic disturbance.
When officers showed up, Chavez ran into a bedroom and told an officer that he wouldn’t be going to jail. The suspect allegedly pushed the officer with both arms. In response, the officer brought Chavez down onto the bed, the complaint states.
“I’ll take your gun and blow your head off,” Chavez allegedly told the officer. “Let’s see what you got.”
The suspect tried to take the officer’s gun, but the officer pushed him away and took him to the ground, reports state.
Chavez’s wife told state police that she had been arguing with her husband about finances and that Chavez punched a hole in a wall before entering the bedroom.
The next morning, the wife told her husband she was taking the family to a relative’s house. He allegedly yelled, “Just wait and see what happens.”
Chavez was charged with battery on a peace officer, criminal damage to property of a household member, assault against a household member, and evading or obstructing an officer.
