So here we are, in the aftermath of Osama bin Laden’s assassination. It’s a historic moment of great consequence — not for the “closure” it brings to the families of those killed on Sept. 11, 2001, but for the pivot in our war against terrorism. To have killed the mastermind of the worst terrorist attacks on U.S. soil — a death that came 10 years later, after a search that led us into two wars — means that we are at a turning point. Which way we’ll turn, however, or even if we’ll turn, remains an open question.
