Pecos XC solid in Alamosa

Among a crowded field of distance runners participating in this past weekend’s Joe Vigil Invitational in Alamosa, Colo., the green and white of Pecos High lent some northern New Mexico color to the proceedings.

The Panther boys varsity finished 12th and the girls were 16th in the high school portion of the meet.

Cassie C de Baca was a strong 24th with a time of 21:07 on the girls’ side. Fellow Lady Panthers in the race were Katelyn Flores (98th, 25:34), Alex Bradford (101st, 25:44), Cayla Vigil (102nd, 25:46), Caitlin Martinez (104th, 26:28) and Jasmine Garcia (no time).

The boys were paced by Ryan Sondoval (45th, 18:02). Teammates Julian Garcia (75th, 19:02), Isaac C De Baca (79th, 19:09), Jason Henderson (80th, 19:10), Michael Quintana (83rd, 19:16), Isaac Varela (86th, 19:24), Jody Leal (99th, 19:46), Josh Lopez (102nd, 20:02), Christopher Vigil (104th, 20:06), Isaac Ortiz (119th, 21:42) and Louis Sanchez (25:13) rounded out the Panther showing.
