Pecos boys rip Monte del Sol to open district

Pecos started off District 4-2A in grand style with an 81-54 win over Monte del Sol Tuesday night.

Tim Baca led the charge, scoring 17 of his game-high 33 points in the third period to break open a close game.

The Panthers and Dragons played to an 11-all tie in the first period. Pecos led 33-25 at intermission and then outscored the Dragons 29-7 in the third period. 

Del Gonzales added 16 points and Joseph Gonzales chipped in with 10. Point guard Darren Villanueva distributed eight assists.
