From the Las Vegas Optic

The Optic is inviting you to take part in the free Las Vegas Optic Power Picks contest beginning with this coming week, Week 2 of the NFL season.

Each week (shortly after the conclusion of Monday Night Football broadcasts) the paper will e-mail participants a copy of the week’s NFL game lineup. Participants are asked to e-mail back with predicted winners; deadline is midnight Wednesday (11:59 p.m. Wednesday).

The paper will keep tabs on how all pickers do over the course of the season. And each week in the Optic, the previous week’s most accurate pickers will be recognized so they can have bragging rights among friends, family and co-workers. Participants don’t necessarily have to submit picks every week, but regular submissions are encouraged, as every win (correct pick) will count toward the season standings.

At season’s end, the Optic will present prizes (including Optic subscriptions and other exciting items to be determined) to the most accurate picker and the winner of a drawing. Taking part in the weekly competition will automatically enter participants in the drawing.

Note that Optic employees and their immediate family members are invited to participate and may win weekly recognition but are ineligible to win prizes.

“It’s free, it’s easy, it’s fun, and you can win some nice prizes,” said Optic sports editor Dave Kavanaugh. “I hope you join us.”

To join, simply e-mail Kavanaugh with your list of predicted winners. Send submissions to either dkavanaugh@lasvegasoptic.com.

The contest will remain open to newcomers throughout the regular NFL season. Entrants should include their full name and hometown with their correspondence. Additional information, such as entrant’s favorite NFL team, is also welcome and may be included in the weekly Power Picks feature published in the print version of the Optic and online.

Each week’s picks must be submitted by the Wednesday midnight deadline.
