Many of the top prep athletes from the Class of 2009 will converge on the Meadow City beginning Monday for the annual North-South games in football and boys’ and girls’ basketball.

Las Vegas and NMHU have hosted the Class 3A event for several years, earning high marks from many participating coaches and athletes.

Local businessman Connie Trujillo, assisted by a group of volunteers, is overseeing a full week of North-South activities and the games themselves. The basketball contests will be held at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, July 10, at the Wilson Complex. The football game is scheduled 6 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Perkins Stadium.

During the week, banquets with special guest speakers, slam dunk and three-point shooting contests and other activities are scheduled for the North-South honorees, all of whom were high school seniors this past academic year.
