The NMHU women’s 400-meter relay team established itself as a national contender by winning its heat and lowering the school record in the event at the 53rd Annual Mount Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif., on April 15.
The foursome of Qiauna Fair, Fiona James, Jillisa Grant and Sheneika Rochester ran 46.08 in taking the heat. The time is nearly a second and a half faster than the NCAA provisional qualifying time and is currently the seventh fastest in the nation among Division II schools. The mark destroys the school record set just last year of 47.19.
