NMAA suspends all sports, other activities

In light of swine flu-related closures of schools in Socorro, Carlsbad and elsewhere in the southern half of the state, the New Mexico Activities Association has suspended all extracurricular activities -- including sporting events and practices -- until further notice.

NMAA officials said the decision to suspend activities this week comes primarily from a concern over competitive fairness, since several schools will be shut down through Sunday and will not allow any practices or other related activities.
