Kevon Williams caught seven passes for 81 yards in a losing effort for New Mexico Highlands (1-9) against Western New Mexico on Saturday afternoon at Perkins Stadium.


The visiting Mustangs overcame a 10-7 deficit to take a 38-13 verdict.

On defense, Kenny Shanahan shined for Highlands, making 10 tackles and returning an interception 30 yards.


NMHU led twice — 3-0 on a 42-yard Ernesto Guerra field goal in the first period, and 10-7 after a quarterback keeper TD run by Robbie Armijo with 7:27 to go before halftime.


But WNMU (4-6) scored the next 17 points to wrest control away.


Kevin Breaker had 111 yards rushing and three TDs for the Mustangs.
