Candidates for the March 4 municipal election are required to file their papers with the city clerk’s office next week.
The candidates must file during normal business hours on Tuesday. Some prospective candidates wait until the last minute to decide, so they can see who else is running.
This year, Mayor Henry Sanchez’s decision not to run is expected to open the floodgates for others looking to take the top spot, though he said late Wednesday he is reconsidering. Sanchez, a proven vote-getter, apparently has scared away potential rivals in previous races.
