At the recent Clayton Track and Field Invitational the Mora boys’ team emerged as the champion and came home with the first-place trophy.
The Rangers made 78 points in the overall events. The best scores came in the 1,600-meter medley relay as they earned 12 points with a time of 4.33.9.
Another top score of 12 points was gained by the 1,600-meter race run by Alonzo Chavez with a 5.01.95 time.
Tim Romero was first in the high jump after clearing 6-1.
With all of the other scores the Rangers came out with the highest team score and brought home the trophy for first place.
The Mora girls did well also, with Andrea Romero gaining first place in the 1,600-meter run with a 5:53.68 time. Romero was in second place in the 800-meter open with a 2:36.63 time.
The rest of the Rangerettes tallied a number of third or fourth-place finishes.
Mora has qualified a number of athletes for the Class 2A state track meet, which will be held May 6-7 at the University of New Mexico’s track and field complex in Albuquerque.
