Mora, Pecos lead NRG hoops fray

More tournaments are under way and in the near future for area prep basketball teams.

The Northern Rio Grande tournaments, which opened Wednesday, were to wrap up Saturday evening at Ben Lujan Gym in Jacona.

Mora and Pecos are playing in the girls’ NRG bracket; Mark Cassidy’s Rangerettes, who opened the season on an unbeaten streak before falling at West Las Vegas this last week, are the No. 1 seed. The Lady Panthers and coach Leroy Barela are seeded No. 6.
