Mora High School is hosting the 15th annual Tri-Cities Tournament, a three-day event that began Monday and wraps up today.
Eight schools are participating. They are the Cimarron Rams, Escalante Lobos, Fort Sumner Foxes,McCurdy Bobcats, Mora Rangers, Pecos Panthers, Peñasco Panthers and Santa Rosa Lions.
The tournament culminates with tonight’s championship game, tipping off at 7 at Montoya Gym.
The consolation final will be at 3 p.m. today.
In the tourney program Mora Athletic Director Ray Maestas welcomes teams, coaches, parents, friends and spectators. He emphasizes good sportsmanship, noting that these games are for the student athletes. He adds that community members must work together to make it a memorable experience for them.
Maestas credits program sponsors Ralph Ortiz of Desert Tees (donation of T-shirts and trophies), Bank of Mora (monetary donation for hospitality room), and the Ranger parents (beverages and monetary donations for the hospitality room).
