The students of Mora Middle School recently participated in the annual spelling bee.
They were coached by Middle School English teacher Roberta Garcia. At the Mora meet Jack Rains took the first place. Ten of the students went to the regional meet in Wagon Mound. Mora student, Alexis Armijo was the first place winner at the regional meet. She will represent Mora County at the State Spelling Bee in Albuquerque in March.
Andrew Martinez from Wagon Mound was in second place at the regional meet.
Jack Rains from Mora was in third place.
Mora celebrates homecoming
After a week of special activities at the school the Mora High School ended the week with winning their varsity basketball game against Mesa Vista
During the week there were fun days in which he students could wear fun clothing and so forth.
On Wednesday, the royal court candidates had a practice for the crowning of the winners at the game Saturday evening. In the evening there was a candidate show like a talent show which was enjoyed by all.
On Thursday, they held a pep rally to cheer on the teams that would be playing on Saturday. The JV and varsity teams all played.
On Friday, they had a great parade with several well arranged floats from each class and some other organizations as 4-H
The Mora High marching band came out with full uniform and great music during the complete route of the parade.
The ones who were chosen as the best floats in first place was a tie between the sophomores and juniors
On Saturday afternoon, the basketball games started with the different teams playing Mesa Vista.
