Mora-area group to evaluate Garcia

-A A +A

The Concerned Parents for Mora Schools is asking parents to fill out job performance evaluations on Superintendent Thomas Garcia. His official evaluation is in December.

The Concerned Parents believe the school board is not being responsive to the parents and citizens, and we intend that our opinions and concerns shall not be ignored.  Your input is important.

Forms can be obtained at the Concerned Parents meeting at CHET on Thursdays at 6 p.m. or from Lori Vigil, Vickie Lovato or Shelley Rains.

A number of parents to whom we have spoken are concerned about reprisals, especially those with relatives working at the school. If you submit anonymously, please explain; i.e. “fear of reprisal” or other good reason. We expect to see a number of “excellent” reviews from administrative staff, so anyone who cares, needs to get their form in by Nov. 8.

We would like to point out to everyone that New Mexico has a Whistleblowers Protection Act (HB 165) that was signed into law by Gov. Bill Richardson in the spring of 2010. The full text can be found at www.nmlegis.gov, and we plan to educate our community members about it.

We, the Concerned Parents for Mora Independent Schools, are determined that every child in Mora should have the best possible education, with a wide range of choices, and we want to see all school money spent on the children, not on administrative staff, luxurious offices and benefits.
