Daniel Martinez came away with a runner-up finish in the toughest high school wrestling tournament in New Mexico. Meanwhile, his Robertson teammate Estevan Vigil took a fourth-place medal, highlighting the Las Vegas contingent’s mat work at the Joe Vivian Invitational this past weekend at Albuquerque’s Cibola High.
Powered by three first-place finishes, Rio Rancho was supreme among the three dozen teams in the field. Volcano Vista won four individual titles and was second. Moriarty, Cibola and La Cueva rounded out the top five.
