-A A +A

I am writing to let the people of Las Vegas know that there is an establishment in your community that went out of its way to assist a stranger that had broken down on the highway on Dec. 22 at 4:45 p.m. This establishment I am referring to is Michael’s Precision Automotive.

Michael, the owner, not only assisted me in finding a towing company that would tow my vehicle to his shop, but spent what normally would have been his day off on Sunday making the repairs so that I might arrive at my destination before Christmas.
For this act of kindness my wife and I were truly blessed!

I would like to thank the following sponsors for their part in a joyful holiday season for The Salvation Army. With your help we provided hundreds of kids with toys, food for the local community, and a successful kettle campaign.

We thank the following clubs: Noon Kiwanis, Morning Kiwanis, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Key Club, and Bill Oshima, Pat Patrick, and Ms. Brianna Dale, who all spent tireless hours ringing the bell for us. Many thanks also to Wal-Mart and Charlie’s Bakery for hosting the Christmas “Angel Trees,” and all those Guardian Angels in the community who provided the presents.
We are also appreciative of Walgreens and Lowe’s for their annual participation in the kettle program.

Regrettably, our sponsors are too numerous to mention; some of those that come to mind are The Dream Makers from Robertson’s High school, the children from Paul D. Henry School for their food drives, Woodmen of The World Lodge 2, Santa Fe Tortilla Company, The Food Depot, G.L. Environmental, Heritage Home Health, and Las Vegas Board of Realtors for their donation. Special thanks for the food grant provided by The Wal-Mart foundation.

My personal thanks to the following volunteers: Dolline Garcia, Mary Baca, Linda Armijo, Simon Trujillo, whose efforts eased my mind during the stressful holiday season.

As is stated in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity!

The board of Amigos de Rio Gallinas, a nonprofit organization that works to support the education of students at Rio Gallinas School of Ecology and the Arts, would like to thank all those who have supported our fundraising efforts thus far. Without the help of the parents, teachers and students, we would not have been able to raise over $2,500 in the first half of the year.

These funds are used to support the learning events for the students, including expedition trips and supplies. Special thanks to Tito Chavez of Tito’s Gallery for his generous donation of jewelry that has helped greatly in the fundraising.
