Casa de Cultura, Tri-County Farmers Market, Barter Hours and Farm to Restaurant Project Main Street wish to extend their mil gracias to all attendees to the third annual Las Vegas Seed Exchange, “Compartindo Semillas” at Luna Community College.
Special thanks to Adrienne Obrien, Luna Culinary Arts instructor, and the Culinary Arts Club for preparing a delicious lunch of native foods.
Thanks to Luna administration for providing the venue for the third straight year and assisting us in creating a tradition that can only grow in the future.
Gracias to a lineup of speakers that captivated the audience: Octavio Ayala for blessing the seeds and the event, Dr. Cathy Stauber (Food and Health), Willie Gonzales (Urban-Rural Water Use), Miguel Pacheco and Lee Einer (The Las Vegas Water Ordinance), Leonard Ludi (Saving Native Seeds) and Miguel Santistevan (Saving Seeds is not a Spectator Sport).
We are grateful for the variety and diversity of volunteers, from farmers, to NMHU-MeCHA and Luna Community College, NMHU-Forestry and Conservation Club students, to community folks who coordinated the sound system, made demonstration seed packets, helped distribute seeds and then cleaned up.
